Instructions"
Here are a few “housekeeping” details for our January 4th
event:
ü
SET-UP—Hy-Vee
Hall at the Iowa Events Center (730 3rd Street) will be
open for setup at
8:30
a.m. The Career Expo starts at 10:00 a.m. and continues until 3:00
p.m. For unloading purposes, please go to the loading docks located
on the west side of Hy-Vee Hall off of Center Street. Volunteers
will be available to assist you. After unloading, we ask that you
move your vehicle promptly to one of the parking areas, as other
employers will all be trying to unload and set up at the same time.
Volunteers will also be available to assist in your booth set-up, if
necessary.

PARKING—
FREE parking is available for employers in the parking
lots located north of Vets, off of Crocker St. One lot is located on
the south side of Crocker and a larger lot is on the north side.
ü
BOOTH
LOCATION—The
Career Expo will be in Hy-Vee Hall at the Iowa Events Center.
Booths will be ten feet by ten feet, with an eight foot skirted
table. Your booth will show your company/firm name on a 7 x 44-inch
hanging sign. Please check in at the Employer Registration desk
before going to your booth.
ü
REFRESHMENTS/LUNCH—Light
refreshments will be available for participating employers in an
area on the west side of the exhibition hall. Your booth rental
also includes two box lunches. Your Employer Registration Packet
will include two tickets for your lunches; we will also provide any
additional lunch tickets ordered with your initial registration.
ü
INTERNSHIP OPPORTUNITIES-Employers offering internship opportunities will be designated by
a balloon attached to their booth.
ü
INTERVIEW AREA-There will be an interview area for your use
in the northeast corner of the exhibit hall.
ü
TEAR
DOWN—Volunteers
will also be available to assist you in tearing down your booths and
loading your vehicles. If you need assistance, please come to the
registration area. PLEASE DO NOT TEAR DOWN BEFORE 3:00 P.M.
ü
EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITY—More than 40 Human Resource professionals from the Central Iowa
Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) will be
on hand during the Expo to provide “Personalized Resume Critiquing”
to attendees wanting this service.
ü
PRE-CAREER EXPO PUBLICITY—We hope that you have heard/seen some of the pre-Expo publicity.
Job seekers have been advised of the Expo through multi-media
publicity. We have invited students from all of Iowa’s private
colleges, area community colleges and the Regents Universities. The
Des Moines Register, as a significant contributor to the Expo, has
publicized the event in CareerBuilder during November and December
and has publicity planned for the week prior to the event.

EMPLOYER EVALUATIONS—We
want to know what you think of the Career Expo and encourage you to
complete an evaluation at the end of the day. A drawing will be
held using all completed employer evaluations. The lucky winner
will receive a FREE BOOTH at next year’s Expo, most likely to be
held the first week in January,
2009.
